11-10-25   THOUGHTS

The contrasts below are obvious and powerful.  Light is against darkness, and love is against hate.  If I read 1John correctly, the failure to love equates to hate.  Verse 10 speaks of loving and abiding.  Christ is the true light “already shining”.  Zacharias gives prophecy at the birth of John in Luke 1, “78  Because of the tender mercy of our God, With which the Sunrise from on high will visit us,  79  TO SHINE UPON THOSE WHO SIT IN DARKNESS AND THE SHADOW OF DEATH, To guide our feet into the way of peace."    It’s a new commandment and a powerful lesson to be heeded.  It’s a lesson of LOVE and LIGHT applied!

1John 2:7-11    Beloved, I am not writing a new commandment to you, but an old commandment which you have had from the beginning; the old commandment is the word which you have heard.  8  On the other hand, I am writing a new commandment to you, which is true in Him and in you, because the darkness is passing away and the true Light is already shining.  9  The one who says he is in the Light and yet hates his brother is in the darkness until now. 10  The one who loves his brother abides in the Light and there is no cause for stumbling in him. 11  But the one who hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going because the darkness has blinded his eyes.

Our Prayer:
Father, help us to live in love and light. Help love to be our reason for living, and help us to remove all elements of hatred from our being.  May we have no part in it.  Help us to be light to our world, that Your will may be done on earth as it is in heaven.  Teach us the beauty of Your love in all its fullness.  May we behold Your love in every nook and cranny of Your creation.  Thank You for being the God that You are.   In the name of our Lord,   Amen.
